Our Client has a requirement for a Mechanical Engineer, who will be required to work on a remote contract with adhoc visit to the client’s site near the Glasgow area

Role Purpose of the Mechanical Engineer
To deliver technical excellence in the design, maintenance, and assessment of critical infrastructure, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance in a high-hazard environment.

This role will be suited to engineers with experience in Mechanical Design, although candidates experienced in Mechanical Installation or Maintenance are also welcomed.

Job Role Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer

  • Provide technical expertise in the specification, production, and assessment of design packages for infrastructure.
  • Define and implement reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure systems.
  • Review and assess work control procedures for maintenance activities.
  • Evaluate infrastructure design, material state, qualification, and ageing mechanisms to ensure continued safe and efficient operations.
  • Foster a robust safety and security culture in all activities.
  • Act as an intelligent customer, ensuring safety-related contract deliverables meet requirements.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Broad experience in mechanical engineering, with exposure to some of the following systems:
  • Pump systems
  • Cranes
  • Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Pressure systems
  • Diesel generators
  • Ability to develop practical, creative, and cost-effective solutions for plant design changes or modifications.
  • Strong understanding of British and international design standards.
  • Proven ability to make evidence-based decisions using diverse data sources.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
  • HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Detailed knowledge of the design intent for electrical infrastructure in the nuclear or similar industries.

Desirable:

  • Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience.
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the nuclear or other high-hazard industries (preferred but not essential).
